School values

Prodeo Academy’s values are expressed in the acronym P.R.I.D.E: Perseverance. Respect. Integrity. Development. Engagement.

Recess

Prodeo prioritizes a safe, welcoming, & meaningful recess experience for all students. They have a low student-to-staff ratio on the playground, with trained educators actively supervising & engaging with students. Their playground is divided into zones for different activities, from active sports to quiet games & creative play, ensuring there’s something for every interest & energy level. They also have a “Friendship Bench” & a “Recess Buddies” program to ensure no student feels left out. Students are taught & encouraged to use problem-solving skills to resolve conflicts, & staff members are always available to mediate when needed. This comprehensive approach ensures that recess is not just a break, but a time for positive social interaction, physical activity, & emotional well-being.

Discipline Policy

Prodeo Academy’s discipline policy is rooted in the principles of restorative justice & positive behavioral interventions & supports (PBIS). They believe in teaching students appropriate behaviors rather than simply punishing misbehavior. Their policy is tiered, starting with classroom-level interventions & moving to more formal consequences for repeated or severe issues. For minor infractions, teachers work with students to understand the impact of their actions & develop a plan for making amends. This might involve a conversation, a conflict resolution session, or a brief time-out. For more serious issues, they involve parents & school administrators. Prodeo Academy’s ultimate goal is to equip students with the skills they need to be responsible, respectful, & productive members of their school community. They focus on teaching, not just telling, & on restoring relationships rather than just imposing consequences.

Bullying Prevention Policy

Prodeo Academy is committed to fostering a safe & respectful environment for all students. Their bullying prevention policy is proactive & multi-faceted, focusing on education, intervention, & clear consequences. Prodeo Academy starts with prevention, teaching students about empathy, respect, & the negative impact of bullying through their curriculum & school-wide assemblies. Students learn to recognize bullying behavior & are empowered to report it, with a clear understanding that they will be taken seriously. When a report is made, their trained staff immediately investigates the situation. They use a restorative approach, focusing on repairing harm & addressing the root cause of the behavior. Consequences are applied consistently & are designed to both stop the bullying & teach the student a better way to interact. Their goal is to create a culture where kindness is the norm & bullying has no place.
