About Us
Loring Nicollet Alternative School is a contract alternative school within the Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) district. Contract alternative schools are run by community agencies who hire staff & provide the facility. Their mission is to serve those students who’ve not found success in the traditional school model. Students attending a contract alternative school continue to be Minneapolis Public Schools (MPS) students during their enrollment. Loring Nicollet’s foundation consists of respect for individuality & a multi-cultural & gender fair curriculum. The school promotes leadership, community activism, & lifelong learning. Loring Nicollet’s academic coursework is focused on strengthening student’s sense of self & preparing them for college. Each student is assigned a staff advisor to build strong connections to school, & to support staff-student relationship development.
