Justice Page Middle School provides English Learner (EL) programming tailored to each student’s language development needs, guided by their most recent ACCESS screener composite score. Students with less than 1.5 years of EL services & a composite score of 1.0-1.7 are scheduled in ELD 1. Those with more than 1.5 years of service & a composite score of 1.0-1.7 are placed in ELD 2. Students with over four years of EL services are scheduled in co-taught classes regardless of score. Learners scoring above 2.8 may be scheduled in ELD 3, ALD, or co-taught classes. Co-taught classes emphasize language growth alongside grade-level content. ELD lessons feature student-friendly objectives aligned to the 2020 WIDA ELD standards. Instruction integrates four language domains–reading, writing, listening, & speaking–while incorporating SIOP (Shelter Instruction Observation Protocol) strategies to ensure content is accessible & engaging. This set of supports ensures ELs can succeed academically while developing English proficiency.
