Academic programming

North provides a high-quality high school education with advanced & early college credit courses, as well as classes in music, visual arts, radio, & dance. North is the future home of the North Career & Technical Education Center, offering real-world skills in engineering, computer science, information technology, robotics, & web & digital communications. The school also houses KBEM, the student-run jazz station that serves as the Twin Cities’s public radio voice for jazz & education. Offers small class sizes, college level classes through AP, CIS, PSEO, STEM internships & Spanish language instruction.

Special education programming

Provides support for students through federal setting 1-3 support by streamlining educator & peer support in the mainstreamed, general education classroom. Also provides programming to support students with developmental delays, social or emotional barriers, & students who are on the autistic spectrum.

English language learner programming

Offers English Language Learner programming.

Covid recovery plan

Minneapolis Public Schools is focused on the implementation of the MPS Strategic Plan as adopted by the school board. Within the Strategic Plan, MPS is providing optional academic boosts for students who need additional support. The academic boosts are implemented in many different ways including additional staffing, intervention programs and tutoring. As we continue to explore innovative ways to address learning and opportunity gaps as a result of interrupted learning over the past few years, we will be prioritizing academic boosts that are student-centered and site based.
