Tuition Assistance is offered to all eligible families to the extent that funds are available. Families can receive an award up to 70% of demonstrated need. Tuition assistance is only applicable to tuition fees. All applications must be submitted to the school by February 15, along with a $60 application fee per family. Award notifications will be made by May 1, with priority given to applications from returning families. Families must apply each year to receive consideration.

About Us

Lake Country School (LCS) is an independent Montessori school that serves students from Pre-K through 8th grade, with campuses in Minneapolis & an organic farm in Wisconsin. They have mixed-age classrooms where teachers inspire the children through lessons given to small groups & individuals. When not involved in a lesson, children work at their own pace on the tasks or activities they have chosen. LCS offers music, art, physical education, Spanish, French, & other experiences. Students leave LCS with a high level of social-emotional intelligence, a love of learning, a sense of curiosity, a collaborative & cooperative spirit, & creative problem-solving skills.

Extra programming

LCS offers athletics & clubs, allowing students the opportunity to learn & practice skills including co-ed cross country, basketball, & volleyball teams. Clubs include choir, French Club, Rainbow Club, Tech Club, News Crew, & archery.

Academic programming

LCS’s academic programming is divided into three different age groups, focusing on students building independence, teamwork skills, & emotional intelligence. Children’s House classrooms (ages 3-6) offer a range of learning experiences that children can complete at their own pace.  Elementary classrooms (grades 1-6) offer multi-age classrooms designed to teach essential skills across different subjects, ensuring that students develop both hard & soft skills in a holistic manner. LCS’s junior high (grades 7-8) focuses on independent learning, research, & discovery, offering multiple real-world opportunities–including trips, living on a farm, & theater experiences.

At LCS, each student is a unique individual with a variety of talents, abilities, & needs. Students come with their own learning styles & progress at their own pace, supported by the depth & breadth of a Montessori learning environment. The collaboration between families, teachers, learning specialists & the wellness coordinator helps to create an environment where students with specific learning &/or social & emotional needs develop their potential within a Montessori school.

Recess

All students go to recess daily. LCS prioritizes being outside & getting the physical & social interactions that students need. The recess staff are adults who work with the students on a regular basis. When in the playground areas, adults are spread out & focused on watching the students. Dedicated staff are available to assist with any issues that may arise during recess.

Discipline Policy

Every student has the right to a safe & peaceful learning environment. Staff & students are educated in conflict resolution, as well as bullying prevention & response strategies, & practices that promote & support responsible citizenship & living well together. Each student is expected to be respectful & caring toward others, the materials, the environment, & themselves.

Bullying Prevention Policy

Every student has the right to a safe & peaceful environment. Staff & students learn about many kinds of bullying & bullying behavior as part of the school’s lessons on living well together. All observations & reports of bullying are addressed.
