LNCS Keewaydin partners with the Mpls. Kids Before/After school care. Mpls. Kids is located onsite at Keewaydin, with daily transportation provided to & from Wenonah. 
Additionally, LNCS Keewaydin offers after school Community Education classes partnered with Extended Learning classes. Classes range from Arts, STEM, Literacy/Math extensions, Physical Movement, & Wellness. Transportation is provided for the Community Education & Extended Learning 2 days per week at each site.  

Extracurriculars Offered:

Cultural Extracurriculars, STEM/STEAM Clubs, Theater, Visual Arts Clubs

Uniforms

Students who attend Lake Nokomis Community – Keewaydin are not required to wear uniforms.

LNCS Keewaydin offers students a well-rounded education where they can explore a wide variety of interests in a highly supportive & nurturing environment. Students have space to discover their unique passions & gifts while developing the academic, social, & emotional skills to pursue them.

Programación de educación especial

LNCS Keewaydin offers a wide range of special education services for their students, which is offered through the Special Education Department. The school has Resource Teachers (SERT), an Autism Classroom Teachers (ASD), & Related Service providers such as Speech/Lang., Occupational Therapy (OT), Adapted PE (DAPE), & Physical Therapy (PT). In some of the ASD classrooms, they offer Music Therapy. In addition to these services, all students with disabilities have access to additional adults to support the inclusion into their mainstream classrooms.

LNCS Keewaydin offers English Language services for students whose first language is not English. Their model offers both a pull-out & push-in support for EL students. Additionally, all teachers collaborate with an English Language teacher to best support students in their classroom.

They intentionally keep the focus on student engagement in the classroom environment, establishing high expectations for all students & building relationships among students, staff, & families, while ensuring that they are lifting up & acknowledging each unique identity that exists within each student & their families, as well as the LNCS staff.

Discipline Policy

LNCS Keewaydin adheres to the MPS Discipline policy with a focus of centering work around intentional teaching & modeling school related expectations. When an incident occurs, the school believes in restorative practices & progressive discipline when appropriate. They understand that the elementary years are a time of learning the necessary social-emotional skills with one another, which includes how to appropriately respond when conflict occurs.

Bullying Prevention Policy

LNCS Keewaydin believes that all students have a right to a safe & healthy school environment. They will not tolerate behavior that infringes on the safety of any student.
The school uses the definition of bullying outlined in the MPS Bullying Policy.
They expect students &/or staff to report incidents of bullying. Staff who witness such acts will take immediate steps to intervene in the situation. Each complaint of bullying will be investigated.
To ensure bullying does not occur, staff will engage in professional development in bullying prevention, & cultivate acceptance & understanding in all students & staff to create & maintain a safe & healthy learning environment.
Teachers will discuss this policy with their students in age-appropriate ways & assure students that they do not need to experience any form of bullying. Students who bully other students may be in violation of policy & are subject to disciplinary action.
