Global Academy is a free, chartered public elementary & middle school that seeks to serve a diverse group of students. Global Academy is committed to service in the broader world based on the goals of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Organization. Empowered by academic rigor, graduates of Global Academy will be fully prepared for success & leadership in challenging high school programs. All students will have access to an internationally competitive education that will prepare them for life in a global economy. Global Academy will create a learning environment in which diverse students will develop a love of learning & become responsible, global citizens. Global Academy meets the needs of students with special needs through a chain of placement options, supports, & services. Philosophically, Global Academy is committed to providing services to students to the fullest extent possible, in the regular classroom setting. All students in the school work towards the same overall education outcomes. Necessary supports in the classroom are provided for students with disabilities to work towards the same outcomes at appropriately modified achievement levels.

English language learner programming

Global Academy’s English Language Learner (ELL) program follows the Sheltered Instruction Observation Protocol (SIOP) approach to teaching ELLs through sheltered instruction, an inclusion model of instruction. The framework for sheltered instruction is one in which the classroom teacher teaches the content to their ELL students, while using strategic methodology to make the subject matter comprehensible for the student.

Bullying Prevention Policy

Global Academy uses the award-winning Second Step program. This program teaches social & emotional skills for violence prevention. The program includes research-based, teacher-friendly curricula, training for educators, & parent education components. Second Step teaches students how to effectively manage their emotions & demonstrate self-control. By learning these skills at a young age, children will be equipped with the emotional skills to manage conflicts effectively as they mature.
