About Us

South High School in South Minneapolis’s Corcoran neighborhood develops students’ critical-thinking skills through a range of challenging courses that involve inquiry, reading, research, writing & technology. South fosters confidence & motivation in students by encouraging them to discover their passions, generate curiosity about the world around them, & value multiple cultures & points of view. South’s All Nations program prepares students from the American Indian community for post-secondary success. Students graduate South set up for success as lifelong learners.

South High’s academic programming establishes a clear pathway for student growth. They begin with structured 9th grade teams to prepare students for success in Advanced Placement (AP) & College in the Schools (CIS) courses. Additionally, the All-Nations program is vital to their academic offerings, providing a culturally sustaining curriculum for their Native students. The school is also continuing their support for students who have gaps in math & reading.

For specialized academic programming, South High offers comprehensive support through their Autism, Developmental Cognitive Disability (DCD), Life Skills, Emotional Behavioral Disorder (EBD), & Resource (Setting II) programs. The majority of their students benefit from access to general education classrooms. Furthermore, the school’s curriculum is enriched by an array of exceptional electives, including dance, physical education, & music therapy, delivered by a dedicated & talented group of educators.
